Metadatamatic is a simple Web application that allows you to create the description of a dataset. It is being provided as a quick and easy way for you to create your own dataset description. Simply work through the forms on this page and complete whichever details you'd like to add to your description. If you enter the URL of an endpoint, you will be able to extract some of the details of the dataset automatically. The final dataset description is displayed at the bottom of the page. It can be downloaded as a file or copied and pasted into an RDF file.
The current state of the form is encoded in the page's URL. You can copy the URL and save it for later or bookmark it. When you want to continue, simply paste the URL in your browser's address bar and press enter. You can also share the URL with someone else, so that they can see the current state of the form.
The equivalences applied to the dataset description are described in a turtle file available here, using an ad-hoc ontology. Feel free to suggest new equivalences by opening an issue on the GitHub repository of the project.
This service is maintained by the WIMMICS joint team from Université Côte d'Azur, Inria, CNRS, I3S. Its source code is available under the Apache v2.0 license. Its development was conducted in the framework of the DeKaLoG and D2KAB projects. This service was inspired by the lack of dataset descriptions observed in the IndeGx framework experimentation, published here. A visualization of those results is shown in the KartoGraphI website, published here
